Who says that?

Things people say to endometriosis sufferers!

You're being a drama queen!
It's as if you are imagining pain lol, right?
When are you going to have children?
People feel like they can ask intrusive questions with no caution or care, they are often not aware that they have put you in the spotlight for a potentially emotional response.
Why don't you get pregnant?
Pregnancy is not a cure for endometriosis! It's also rude and probably none of that persons business.
Get a hysterectomy!
If you think I'm too young to have problems with my hormones surely I'm too young to have a hysterectomy. Also, the misconception of this being a cure needs to be addressed.
But you had surgery... Shouldn't you be better?
Laparoscopic surgery is not a cure either, it is a procedure used to diagnose endometriosis and temporarily remove adhesion's. It does grow back.
It's just period pain isn't it? or Everyone has period pain, can't you just take painkillers and get on with it?
The short answer is no and this why, the condition is chronic and debilitating which cause painful and heavy periods. It may also lead to infertility, fatigue, bowel and bladder problems. Pain can be suffered throughout the month not just with a period itself. In endometriosis the pain is caused by endometrial cells growing in different parts of the body.
You're sick again? or You don't look sick!
Sometimes followed with "you're always sick". What should my response be besides "yes I am, thanks for noticing captain obvious!"
It's all in your head!
It's insulting, degrading, insensitive and offensive. I'm sorry, where did you get your medical degree from? Wikipedia?
You are just depressed!
Medical professionals who suggest your physical pain is caused by depression are extremely negligent.
Well I have cramps too!
Endometriosis pain is not the same as having cramps. It's like having a Taser attached to your ovaries, bowel, and uterus on a consistent power on function at the highest level. But more importantly it's not a competition.
My friend has endometriosis too, and she's fine.
Endometriosis pain is not the same for everybody. You could have stage 4 endometriosis but be in less pain than someone with stage 2.
My friend has that and she has 4 kids!
Congrats to your friend on all four of her conceptions. This is unhelpful. Women are affected differently with fertility and inflammation location etc.
Why don't you just adopt?
Adoption is a beautiful way to start a family, but not always practical and very costly.
You're always tired! or "you think you're tired now, wait until you have kids"
Lol. I definitely can't know what it's like to be tired because I don't have children. I do have a chronic condition though, with no cure! The pain with this sometimes keeps me up at night, however, I would never tell someone that they don't know what it's like to be tired.
You just need to be positive!
What can I say about this? Lol
Too bad you don't have kids, you would make a great mother!
Sometimes the reasoning's for certain things doesn't always seem fair. Yes I believe everything happens for a reason but it's a hard pill to swallow at times. This comment definitely hurts my feelings above all the others, kind of like, rubbing salt into an open wound.
